Hong Kong is a cool place that I would very much like to visit at some point in the near future.
However I can’t afford the flights and my parents won’t let me remortgage their house, so I’m going to have to try and experience it vicariously through various mediums.
In the meantime, I thought ‘why not make them a football shirt for their national team?’ which I almost immediately regretted because I’m sick of red or white national football kits being all you see during tournaments.
I tried to put a spin on this decidedly red strip, and here’s what I came up with…
As you can see, I’ve used the five-petal orchid tree from the Hong Kong flag (officially known as the regional flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China) in a slightly darker shade of red to the rest of the kit.
Amongst the red orchids are also a few golden ones to break up the design, and the red orchids can be seen again on the white, knitted sleeve cuff.
